Pendleton, OR – Chilly temperatures are forecasted to return to eastern Oregon this weekend as a passing upper-level high-pressure system leads to clear skies and cold nights. According to the National Weather Service, low temperatures are expected to dip to near or below freezing, especially in valley areas and basins.
The best chances for freezing temperatures will occur early Sunday morning, with a 40-60% likelihood of temperatures dropping between 28°F to 34°F. These freezing conditions are most likely in low-lying areas where cold air typically drains. The freeze risk will extend through Monday morning as well.
As the National Weather Service noted, areas affected by the freeze will be eligible for freeze warnings starting April 15th. Residents should take precautions to protect sensitive plants and crops from the cold, especially during the early morning hours. Stay updated for any official freeze alerts or warnings.
The cooler weather is expected to clear by Monday afternoon, with temperatures gradually warming throughout the following days.
