Medford, OR – Southern Oregon is under multiple weather advisories, with freezing temperatures expected tonight and poor air quality lingering through Tuesday. Residents along the coast and in valley areas are advised to take precautions as freezing fog and stagnant air pose risks to health and safety.

According to the National Weather Service, a Freeze Warning is in place for the southern Oregon coast, including Reedsport, Coos Bay, and Bandon. Temperatures could drop into the low 30s overnight, threatening tender plants and outdoor vegetation. Residents should bring pets indoors and cover plants to protect them from frost.

Inland, an Air Stagnation Advisory remains in effect for valley areas like Medford, Ashland, and Grants Pass. This advisory is due to strong valley inversions trapping pollutants near the surface, causing poor air quality. Individuals with respiratory conditions should avoid prolonged outdoor activity until conditions improve Tuesday morning.

Monday’s forecast predicts freezing fog during the early hours, creating potentially hazardous road conditions for morning commuters. Drivers should use caution, particularly on major routes like Interstate 5. By the afternoon, skies are expected to clear with highs reaching the low 40s.

The extended outlook for Medford shows gradual improvement midweek, with temperatures rising slightly and better air circulation expected. However, freezing nighttime temperatures will persist, with lows hovering in the mid-20s.

Residents should remain vigilant for updates and follow precautions to ensure safety.
