Pendleton, OR – A powerful winter storm continues to impact eastern Oregon and southeastern Washington, bringing heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Wednesday for the Ochoco-John Day Highlands, Wallowa County, and the Blue Mountains’ foothills. Snowfall totals are expected to range between 3 to 10 inches, with the heaviest accumulation in Wallowa County.

Forecasters warn of low visibility and difficult driving conditions, particularly during late afternoon and evening when snowfall rates could reach 1 inch per hour. A brief lull is expected earlier in the day before snow picks up again.

Areas impacted include Pendleton, Walla Walla, Pilot Rock, Enterprise, and Prairie City. Travel may be treacherous, especially on mountain roads.

Residents are urged to delay travel if possible. Those who must travel should carry emergency supplies, including tire chains, blankets, water, and a flashlight.
