Medford, Oregon – Lightning and gusty winds could strike parts of southern Oregon between 3 and 10 p.m. Wednesday, as isolated thunderstorms move across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, there is a 15–25% chance of thunderstorms across the Siskiyous, Cascades, and portions of northern Klamath and Lake Counties. The risk of any one storm turning severe remains low—only 1–3%—with little potential for hail, flooding, or tornadoes.
Medford, Grants Pass, and surrounding cities could hear thunder or see brief downpours, but the most active cells are expected to stay east and at higher elevations. Storm chances in Medford are just 5–10%. Residents in Chiloquin, Chemult, and Silver Lake should watch for quick-moving storms and wind gusts exceeding 40 mph.
While travel impacts are expected to be minimal, outdoor enthusiasts and late-day commuters are urged to monitor weather alerts and head indoors if thunder is heard. Lightning remains the top hazard.
Storm activity is expected to diminish after 10 p.m., but updates will continue through the evening if conditions change.
