Boise, Idaho – Thunderstorms packing wind gusts up to 50 mph could rattle parts of southwest Idaho and eastern Oregon late Thursday afternoon through the evening, with hazards expected along key travel corridors like I-84.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, scattered to isolated storms are expected to develop across the region by late afternoon on June 19, bringing outflow winds capable of sudden crosswinds and travel disruptions. Areas of concern include Ontario, Caldwell, Mountain Home, and as far west as Burns, Oregon.

Motorists should be prepared for erratic wind bursts—particularly on open stretches of Interstate 84—and are urged to secure loose items like patio furniture, umbrellas, or tarps. Residents are also advised to head indoors at the first sound of thunder.

While not every area will see a storm, any developing cells could cause quick-moving impacts. These storms may also bring lightning and brief downpours, especially in Jordan Valley, McCall, and parts of the Magic Valley.

The weather threat is expected to diminish overnight, but updates will continue as conditions evolve. Additional alerts may be issued if storm intensity increases.
