Pendleton, Ore. – Pendleton will see back-to-back 90-degree highs on Wednesday and Saturday as dry air and gusty winds raise early summer fire concerns across Eastern Oregon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, sunny skies will dominate the region through at least Saturday, with daytime highs ranging from the upper 80s to near 90°F. Light winds early Wednesday will strengthen to gusts of up to 30 mph by Thursday afternoon, especially in open and rural areas.

Umatilla County residents should prepare for elevated wildfire risk due to dry conditions and strong breezes. Thursday night’s wind speeds could continue into Friday morning, with gusts making travel on routes like U.S. Highway 395 less predictable, especially for high-profile vehicles.

While overnight lows will dip into the upper 40s to low 50s, the strong sun and dry air will make hydration and sun protection essential during the day. No rainfall is expected until next week, when a slight chance of showers returns by Monday night.

Weather warnings are not yet in effect, but conditions will be monitored closely through the weekend. Updates will be issued if wind speeds increase or if red flag warnings are triggered.
