Medford, Oregon – Summer heat returns in full force this week as temperatures in Medford surge to near 91°F by Wednesday and climb to a scorching 97°F by Friday, marking one of the hottest stretches so far this season.

According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies will dominate southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley beginning Wednesday, May 28, with light winds and virtually no cloud cover. Temperatures will steadily rise into the upper 80s by Thursday, then peak Friday as triple-digit heat looms just outside the forecast range.

Travelers along Oregon Highway 62 should prepare for pavement heat hazards and increased vehicle stress during afternoon hours. Locals are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat (3–6 p.m.), hydrate frequently, and check on elderly neighbors or pets. There are no official advisories yet, but a summer heat weather alert may be issued if temperatures climb further.

Wednesday night stays mostly clear, with a low of 55°F and breezy gusts up to 23 mph. Thursday remains sunny with a high near 86°F, while Friday’s extreme heat pushes toward 97°F—Medford’s highest so far in 2024.

Five-Day Outlook:

  • Saturday: Sunny and hot again, high near 88°F.
  • Sunday: Clear skies persist with a high near 86°F.
  • Monday: Cooler relief possible—partly cloudy, high of 78°F.
