Medford, Oregon – Triple-digit heat will blanket southwest Oregon through Monday evening, with highs peaking at 101°F in Medford and up to 102°F in the Umpqua, Rogue, and Applegate valleys.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Monday across western Siskiyou, central Douglas, Josephine, Jackson, and Curry counties. Cities impacted include Grants Pass, Roseburg, Ashland, Yreka, and Cave Junction. Afternoon highs between 95°F and 102°F are expected, significantly raising the risk of heat-related illness.
Residents in areas like Shady Cove, Canyonville, and Merlin are urged to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours. Cold mountain runoff continues to make local rivers hazardous, even as air temperatures soar. If cooling off outdoors, use caution around waterways.
Health officials recommend drinking water regularly, checking on vulnerable neighbors, and avoiding strenuous activity in the heat of the day. Those working outside should schedule breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
The Heat Advisory remains in place until 8 p.m. Monday, but conditions will cool slightly by midweek. Additional advisories may follow if extreme temperatures persist.
