Eugene, Oregon – Sensitive plants across western Oregon could be at risk overnight as a frost advisory takes effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Tuesday, with temperatures expected to drop to near freezing in several cities.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the advisory covers the Central and Southern Willamette Valley, the Tualatin Valley, lower Columbia River Gorge, and foothill communities across the Coast Range and Cascades. Lows are forecast between 33°F and 36°F, cold enough to cause frost formation on exposed surfaces.

Cities including Eugene, Salem, Hillsboro, Springfield, and Corvallis may see patchy frost develop before sunrise Tuesday. With clear skies and light winds, radiational cooling will drive temperatures downward. Gardeners are urged to bring potted plants indoors or cover sensitive vegetation using bedsheets or breathable fabric to retain heat.

The advisory also impacts areas as far north as Longview, WA, and as far south as Cottage Grove, OR. This late-season chill comes just days before warmer temperatures are expected to return midweek.

Frost warnings remain in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Additional advisories are possible if conditions persist into Wednesday.
