Hood River, OR – A frost advisory is in effect for the Upper Hood River Valley, Cascade Foothills of Marion and Linn counties, and the Lane County Cascade Foothills tonight into Sunday morning. The advisory will be in place from midnight Saturday until 7 a.m. PDT Sunday, as temperatures are expected to dip between 32°F and 26°F, causing frost formation in these areas.

According to the National Weather Service, areas most at risk are those above 1,000 feet, with the frost being most widespread at elevations above 1,500 feet. Locations like Parkdale, Oakridge, Silver Falls, McKenzie Bridge, Mill City, Odell, Detroit, and Vida are all under the advisory. Sensitive outdoor plants may be harmed, with the potential for frost to kill plants if left uncovered.

Residents in affected areas are urged to take action now to protect tender plants. Consider moving outdoor potted plants indoors or covering them with lightweight cotton fabrics such as bedsheets or thin blankets to preserve heat and prevent frost damage.

The frost threat is expected to diminish by 7 a.m. Sunday, but it is important to monitor conditions as they evolve. Additional updates from the National Weather Service may follow if the situation changes.
