Portland, OR – Oregon residents are bracing for intense weather today as strong winds and heavy rain continue to affect the region. Winds of 30 to 50 mph are expected in the Willamette Valley, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph along the coast. Travelers along I-5 and US-26 should remain vigilant for reduced visibility and potential roadway hazards.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Portland, offshore buoys recorded wind gusts as high as 71 mph late Tuesday. Rain is forecast to intensify into Thursday, with local amounts between a quarter and half an inch. Overnight lows will hover near 44 degrees, while daytime highs will peak at 53 degrees.

Thursday will see sustained showers and gusts near 24 mph, further complicating travel conditions. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and monitor updates from local officials for power outage warnings.

Looking ahead, Friday is expected to bring steady rain with highs of 56 degrees. Showers will persist into the weekend, with temperatures ranging from 41 to 51 degrees. Drivers on highways like I-84 and US-101 should prepare for wet and windy conditions throughout the week.

The NWS advises using caution when driving and avoiding flooded roads. Residents should also clear gutters and storm drains to prevent localized flooding.
