Medford, OR – Drivers in Oregon’s Rogue Valley are urged to exercise caution as dense fog reduces visibility to a quarter-mile or less in many areas. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday, making travel potentially hazardous on major routes, including Interstate 5.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory spans Central Douglas, Josephine, and Jackson counties. Poor visibility could cause delays and increase the likelihood of accidents. Officials recommend using low-beam headlights, reducing speed, and allowing extra distance between vehicles. Travelers are also advised to consider delaying trips until conditions improve.

An Air Stagnation Advisory also persists in the region through noon Friday. This weather pattern, driven by an inversion, is trapping pollutants near the surface, resulting in poor air quality. People with respiratory issues are encouraged to limit outdoor activities and consult physicians if necessary.

Looking ahead, patchy fog may redevelop Thursday night into Friday morning. Friday brings a 30% chance of rain, with temperatures reaching a high of 49°F. Weekend weather will clear slightly, offering partly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday with highs near 45°F and lows around 31°F.

Residents should monitor updates from the National Weather Service and prepare for rapidly changing conditions, especially when traveling early in the day.
