Portland, OR – Residents across the Portland metro area should prepare for cold mornings and frosty conditions through the weekend, with subfreezing temperatures predicted in many areas. A cold weather advisory remains in effect for parts of northern Oregon, including Portland, Troutdale, and nearby communities, until 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to dip as low as 20 degrees in some areas overnight, with wind chills making it feel closer to 15 degrees in rural locations. Eastern winds near the Columbia River Gorge will create slightly warmer pockets in cities like Troutdale, where lows hover around 40 degrees, but most of Portland will see overnight lows near 29.

This weather pattern will persist through the weekend, with frosty mornings expected Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Daytime highs will reach the mid-40s under mostly sunny skies, providing some relief during the afternoons. Those venturing outside early should bundle up and cover exposed skin to prevent frostbite or hypothermia.

The extended forecast shows clear skies through Monday, with low temperatures slowly rising toward 30 degrees by next week. Commuters and pedestrians should exercise caution on roads and sidewalks during the early morning hours, as frost could create slick spots.

Residents are encouraged to check on vulnerable neighbors and limit outdoor exposure during the coldest hours. For up-to-date information, visit the National Weather Service website or tune into local weather updates.
