Pendleton, OR – A winter storm is set to blanket the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and Washington with up to 10 inches of snow. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. Saturday.

According to the advisory, areas above 4,000 feet, including Tollgate and Ski Bluewood Resort, will see snow accumulations between 6 and 10 inches. Wind gusts could reach speeds of 45 mph, creating dangerous travel conditions due to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

The Oregon Department of Transportation cautioned travelers to prepare for slick and hazardous roads, especially along I-84 near Meacham, which could receive 1 to 2 inches of snow. Periods of moderate and heavy snowfall are expected to challenge drivers throughout the day and night.

Residents and visitors are urged to use caution and check road conditions before heading out. Updates for Oregon roads can be found at TripCheck.com or by dialing 511. Washington travelers can access road information at WSDOT’s website.

The National Weather Service also advised securing outdoor objects and limiting unnecessary travel. Drivers should carry emergency kits, including blankets, flashlights, and non-perishable food, in case of delays.

This storm marks one of the season’s first significant snowfall events in the region, drawing attention from ski enthusiasts and road crews alike.
