Oregon and Northern California Weather Alert: Subzero Temperatures Expected Through Wednesday

Medford, OR – A severe cold snap is set to grip Oregon, Northern California, and parts of Idaho, with temperatures plunging well below zero through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from Saturday night through Wednesday morning for areas along and east of the Cascades, including Klamath, Lake, Modoc, and Siskiyou counties. Temperatures could drop as low as -15°F, with wind chills posing a serious risk of hypothermia and frostbite.

Further east, Baker, Harney, and Malheur counties in Oregon will also experience subzero temperatures from Sunday night through Thursday morning. In Northern California, interior regions of Humboldt, Mendocino, Trinity, and Del Norte counties are under a separate advisory from 2 AM to 9 AM Sunday, with wind chills between 12°F and 20F.

Officials urge residents to dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and keep pets indoors. Those using space heaters should exercise caution and avoid using generators indoors.
