Philadelphia, PA — Coastal areas near Philadelphia are facing dangerous rip currents and minor flooding this week due to persistent onshore winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a warning Tuesday, indicating a high risk of rip currents for beaches stretching from Cape May, NJ to Bethany Beach, DE. Residents and visitors should exercise caution when near the shoreline through Wednesday.

According to the NWS, a coastal flood advisory remains in effect, particularly impacting low-lying areas. Wednesday will see additional showers, with chances for rain continuing through Thursday. Thursday may bring more significant rainfall, and temperatures are expected to climb to the mid-80s by the end of the week. Beachgoers should avoid swimming in affected areas until the rip current advisories are lifted.

By Friday, the region will dry out, with clearer skies and more favorable conditions heading into the weekend. Stay updated on weather alerts and check forecasts at weather.gov for further information before heading out to the coast.
