Omaha, NE – Spring weather in Nebraska kicks off the week with gusty winds and an elevated fire risk across the Omaha metro and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, wind gusts up to 45 mph are expected Monday afternoon, with dry conditions intensifying fire danger through Friday. A wind advisory and fire weather watch remain in effect for much of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa, especially for areas along I-80 and Highway 75.

The weather pattern will shift slightly midweek, bringing a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms by Wednesday evening. Until then, dry air and strong breezes—especially in northeast Nebraska and west-central Iowa—will create hazardous conditions for outdoor burning or spark-prone activities.

Five-Day Omaha Weather Outlook:

  • Monday: Breezy and partly sunny, high near 63°F. Winds shift southwest with gusts near 23 mph.
  • Tuesday: Sunny and warmer, high near 68°F. Wind gusts up to 24 mph.
  • Wednesday: Chance of rain after 1 p.m., high near 66°F. Evening brings higher rain chances.
  • Thursday: Rain likely, high around 72°F. Breezy with southeast winds.
  • Friday: Cooler with scattered rain, high of 70°F. Winds gusting up to 28 mph.

Residents are urged to avoid open flames, secure outdoor objects, and monitor local advisories. Stay updated via the National Weather Service and local emergency alerts.
