Nebraska residents should prepare for potential severe weather as thunderstorms are expected to roll into eastern parts of the state on Thursday. The National Weather Service warns of a slight chance of strong to severe storms along I-80 and into southwest Iowa, with temperatures soaring into the upper 70s before conditions deteriorate in the afternoon.
According to the latest forecast, the risk of storms is highest in the afternoon and evening, with a small chance (5% or less) of severe weather, including gusty winds. Drivers along major routes such as I-80 should stay alert, as visibility may be reduced and winds could reach up to 26 mph.
By Friday, calmer weather will return with sunny skies and cooler temperatures around 64°F, offering a reprieve from the turbulent conditions. However, the cool-down will be brief, as Saturday and Sunday bring back warmer temperatures, ranging from 60 to 75°F. Weekend plans should go ahead with caution on Thursday, but sunny skies are forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.
