Oklahoma City, OK – A wind advisory has been issued for much of Oklahoma, with gusts up to 50 mph expected Sunday. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of hazardous driving conditions and potential power outages across the state.
According to the NWS, the advisory begins at 3 a.m. for northwestern counties, extending statewide by 6 a.m. Gusty northwest winds, ranging from 25 to 35 mph, will persist through 6 p.m. Sunday. Affected areas include Oklahoma City, Enid, and Lawton, with the strongest gusts likely in northern and western counties.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects, such as patio furniture and holiday decorations, to prevent damage. High-profile vehicles, especially on open highways, may face driving challenges. Additionally, tree limbs may be downed, potentially causing isolated power outages.
The advisory accompanies a strong cold front bringing plummeting temperatures and a chance of light snow in northern Oklahoma, particularly near the Kansas border.
Drivers should exercise caution and monitor local forecasts for updates. Stay informed by checking weather alerts on the NWS website or local news outlets.
