Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma residents should brace for a week of intense spring weather as strong winds and thunderstorm chances threaten travel and safety across Tulsa and surrounding counties, especially along the I-44 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, high wind potential continues Sunday and Monday, with gusts between 35 and 40 mph forecast for much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Wind speeds could impact drivers on I-44, particularly high-profile vehicles. Residents should secure loose outdoor items and avoid open burning due to fire risk.

Wind speeds will decrease Monday night but return Wednesday and Thursday, again posing a risk for travel and outdoor activity. On Friday, a strong frontal boundary may trigger scattered thunderstorms across northeast Oklahoma, with a 40 percent chance of showers and storms currently forecast for Tulsa.
