Tulsa, Oklahoma – Floodwaters and fading storms will keep parts of eastern Oklahoma on alert Saturday, especially around rural roads north of Tulsa. Minor flooding remains a concern near the Caney River in Collinsville, with some county roads already impassable and more closures possible if waters rise again.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, showers and thunderstorms tapered off Friday, but saturated ground and lingering runoff are causing the Caney River to rise above its 26-foot flood stage. As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, the river measured 28.6 feet. Forecasters expect water levels to fall below flood stage late Saturday, but motorists should avoid flooded crossings on U.S. 169 and local farm roads near Rogers and Tulsa counties.

The risk of severe thunderstorms has now diminished, but scattered showers could reappear by Tuesday night. Dry weather is forecast Saturday through Monday across Tulsa, Muskogee, and Fort Smith, Arkansas. Clear skies and mild temperatures will dominate much of the weekend, offering some reprieve for storm-weary residents.

Flood-prone zones near Beggs and Owasso-Mingo are also under watch, though alerts have been lifted for Bird Creek. Emergency managers urge residents to remain cautious around swollen creeks and avoid driving into standing water.
