Oklahoma City, OK – Breezy winds and cooler temperatures are on the horizon for much of Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas as a strong cold front begins to impact the region. Thunderstorm chances return early next week, with heavy rainfall of up to two inches expected in southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, gusty southerly winds of 25-30 mph will develop Thursday afternoon ahead of a dry cold front. By Friday, temperatures will drop, with highs in the low 40s in Tulsa and surrounding areas. The front will bring a calm but cooler weekend, followed by increasing moisture and potential storms starting Monday.

Thursday and Friday Forecast:

Thursday brings sunny skies with highs near 57°F in Tulsa. Winds from the south at 10 mph will gradually pick up to 20 mph in the afternoon. Friday will see a drop in temperature, with highs around 40°F and breezy north winds gusting up to 25 mph.

Weekend Outlook:

Saturday offers mostly sunny skies and milder temperatures, with highs reaching 48°F. Sunday stays clear and slightly warmer, with highs near 54°F. However, clouds will build Sunday night as the next storm system approaches.

Early Next Week:

Monday and Tuesday bring a 50-60% chance of rain and thunderstorms, primarily impacting areas near Muskogee, McAlester, and Fayetteville. Drivers along I-40 should prepare for reduced visibility and possible ponding on roads.

Residents should secure outdoor items on Thursday due to strong winds and remain alert for potential flooding early next week.
