Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma residents should prepare for a windy end to the week, with fire danger increasing Friday before storms arrive late Sunday. Gusty southwest winds will elevate fire risks, particularly in northeast Oklahoma, before a shift to a wetter pattern by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, winds will pick up Friday, reaching 15 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. These dry, gusty conditions, especially north and west of Interstate 44, could increase fire danger throughout the afternoon. However, the pattern changes Sunday as a storm system moves in from the Rockies, bringing rain and possible thunderstorms.

Weekend Weather Breakdown:

Friday: Sunny with highs near 75°F, southwest winds gusting to 30 mph. Fire risk is high across northeast Oklahoma.

Saturday: Another warm, dry day with highs near 60°F and calmer winds around 5 mph.

Sunday: Partly sunny with highs near 62°F, followed by a 50% chance of evening showers and thunderstorms.

Thunderstorm potential will persist into Monday, with southeast winds strengthening to 15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, heavier downpours and lightning could impact eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

Looking ahead, additional rain chances continue into Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures remaining mild in the 60s. Spring-like conditions are on the horizon as March begins. Stay updated with local forecasts and remain alert for changing weather conditions.
