Oklahoma – Trash cans tip and tree limbs sway hard this morning as strong winds ramp up quickly across central Oklahoma, already creating hazardous driving conditions and increasing wildfire risk by the hour. Gusts are building toward 50 mph, especially along I-35 and I-40 through Oklahoma City.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m., with sustained northeast winds between 25 and 35 mph and higher gusts. At the same time, a Red Flag Warning runs from late morning through the evening as humidity drops to 15–20 percent, creating ideal conditions for fast-moving fires .

Across the Oklahoma City metro, Norman, Edmond, and Moore, drivers of trucks and SUVs should use extra caution. Crosswinds can push vehicles unexpectedly, especially on open highways and elevated roadways. Loose outdoor items may become airborne.

Fire crews are also on alert. Any spark could spread rapidly in dry grass and fields west of the metro toward El Reno and Clinton. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged today.

Conditions begin to settle later tonight as winds ease and skies clear. The weekend quickly flips the script, bringing calmer weather and a steady warm-up. Highs climb into the mid-60s Saturday, then surge into the 80s by Sunday and Monday.

By Monday, early “summer vibes” take hold with highs nearing 87°F. That warmth may help spark isolated storms by Tuesday into midweek.

Five Day Forecast for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma:
Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 66°F
Sunday: Sunny, high near 82°F
Monday: Mostly sunny, high near 87°F
Tuesday: Slight chance of storms, high near 87°F
Wednesday: Chance of storms, high near 80°F
