Tulsa, OK – A winter storm is set to bring snow, sleet, and freezing rain to Southeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas starting Thursday afternoon, posing a significant risk to travel and power infrastructure. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region, predicting 3 to 6 inches of snow, with some areas seeing a glaze of ice.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will begin impacting the region as early as noon Thursday and continue through Friday morning. The heaviest snowfall is expected south of Interstate 40, with hazardous travel conditions likely to extend into early Friday. Local residents are urged to stock emergency supplies and reevaluate travel plans.

Thursday’s high temperatures in Tulsa will hover around 36°F, but wind chills could make it feel much colder. Conditions will worsen by Thursday night, with freezing rain transitioning to snow. Accumulations may reach over half an inch of ice in some locations, further increasing the risk of power outages.

Looking ahead, Friday will remain cold with highs near 36°F and a chance of lingering snow showers. By Saturday, dry conditions will return, and temperatures will gradually climb to a high of 43°F under sunny skies.

Residents should continue monitoring updates from the National Weather Service and prepare for potential disruptions. Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and check road conditions before heading out.
