Tulsa, Oklahoma – A powerful line of severe thunderstorms is sweeping across northeast Oklahoma early Friday, packing wind gusts up to 75 mph and threatening flash flooding, downed trees, and isolated tornadoes through 10 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the storms are currently impacting the I-44 corridor, including Tulsa, Bartlesville, and Okmulgee, and will push east into western Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma throughout the morning. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10 a.m. for multiple counties across the region.

In addition to intense lightning and half-dollar-sized hail, residents near Muskogee, McAlester, and Miami should be prepared for scattered power outages and localized damage. Areas already soaked by overnight storms may experience rapid runoff and flash flooding, especially in low-lying zones.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and delay travel until storms pass. Emergency officials recommend having multiple ways to receive warnings and keeping a sheltering plan ready in case tornadoes briefly form within the line.

The severe threat will shift southeast by late morning, but additional watches could be issued as the system moves toward Arkansas.
