Norman, OK – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Oklahoma and northern Texas until 8 a.m. Friday. Forecasters predict up to two inches of additional snow in the affected areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory includes northern, northwest, central, southern, and southwest Oklahoma, as well as northern Texas. Cities such as Enid, Lawton, and Wichita Falls are within the impacted region. Snow began Thursday evening and is expected to persist through early Friday morning.

Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions during the Friday morning commute. The NWS advises drivers to slow down and use caution when traveling. Slippery roads are likely in areas experiencing snow accumulation.

Affected cities, including Ponca City, Altus, and Duncan, have already reported snowfall. Public works crews are working to clear major roadways, but officials warn that secondary roads and residential streets may remain slick.

Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing overnight, potentially prolonging icy conditions. Travelers can check the latest road conditions by calling 511 or visiting state transportation websites.

The advisory comes as part of an active weather pattern bringing winter precipitation to the region. This is the second advisory issued this week, highlighting the need for ongoing vigilance.

Residents are urged to remain indoors if possible and avoid unnecessary travel. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and ensure cell phones are fully charged before venturing out.
