Tulsa, Oklahoma – Severe thunderstorms could hammer northeastern Oklahoma through 10 a.m. Tuesday, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and potential power outages across major cities including Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for 30 Oklahoma counties, stretching from Adair to Tulsa and Woodward. The watch, issued at 2:35 a.m. CDT, warns of storms capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, particularly impacting early commuters and school schedules.

Counties under alert include Payne, Logan, Pawnee, and Washington, with impacts likely along major roadways like I-35, I-44, and U.S. Highway 412. Residents in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, and surrounding areas should secure outdoor objects, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated on warnings. Local school districts may announce delays or early dismissals if conditions worsen.

This is the first widespread severe thunderstorm threat of the spring for northeastern Oklahoma, with storm strength expected to peak just before mid-morning. Additional warnings and advisories are possible as the storm system moves eastward.
