Tulsa, Oklahoma – Flooding concerns are rising across eastern Oklahoma as a multi-day stretch of rain begins Tuesday, with up to 2 inches expected by Wednesday night in cities like Tulsa, Fort Smith, and McAlester.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, widespread showers will arrive Tuesday morning and continue through midweek. Rain chances top 90% in southeastern towns like Hugo and McAlester, with a 75–85% probability in Tulsa and Fort Smith through Wednesday. The Weather Prediction Center has placed much of northeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas under a slight risk for excessive rainfall Tuesday, signaling the potential for flash flooding.

Communities including Muskogee, Tahlequah, and Fayetteville will see consistent rain through Thursday, with totals approaching 2 inches in some areas. Low-lying roads, creeks, and flood-prone intersections may become dangerous, especially during periods of moderate to heavy downpours. Drivers should avoid water-covered roads and be alert for rapidly changing conditions during commutes.

Residents are urged to monitor local alerts, charge electronic devices, and prepare for possible delays or detours. Emergency managers warn that ongoing rain may prolong standing water in previously saturated areas.

Rain chances will persist through Friday, with more showers possible next weekend. Additional advisories may be issued as the system evolves.
