Tulsa, OK – A heatwave is set to grip Oklahoma, with temperatures reaching as high as 102°F. The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a heat advisory from 1 PM to 8 PM Sunday, warning of heat index values up to 108 degrees.

According to the forecast, Tulsa will see temperatures soar to 100°F on Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday also expected to hit 102°F. The heatwave will affect other areas, including Fort Smith, Muskogee, and Bartlesville, where temperatures will range from the mid-90s to over 100°F.

The National Weather Service advises residents to take precautions during this period. It’s crucial to stay hydrated and take breaks in air-conditioned environments. Heat-related illnesses are possible, especially for those working outdoors or without access to cool spaces.

Looking ahead, the forecast shows some relief by Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to 87°F and a 45% chance of rain. Thursday and Friday will see temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, providing a much-needed break from the extreme heat.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and those with health conditions. Pets should also be kept indoors and provided with plenty of water.
