Randlett, Oklahoma – Flooding could threaten croplands and rural roads near Randlett by Monday night as Deep Red Creek rises under a new Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service in Norman.

According to NWS data, the watch begins Monday evening and continues through late Wednesday morning. The creek, which measured just 3.3 feet late Sunday morning, is expected to reach flood stage—20 feet or higher—within 24 hours. Flooding of up to two feet is possible in low-lying areas, including pasturelands and local roads near the creek.

Cotton County residents along the creek’s path—especially west of Highway 65 and near the intersections of county roads 2460 and 1850—should remain alert for rising water. Officials urge people to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to secure livestock or equipment in flood-prone areas.

The threat follows a weekend of heavy rainfall across southwest Oklahoma, with additional showers forecast through Tuesday night. This region has seen similar high water events in recent summers, particularly when storm systems stall over the Red River basin.

Warnings remain in effect through Wednesday morning, and updated river levels will be posted at weather.gov.
