Tulsa, OK – Severe thunderstorms are forecast for Tulsa and surrounding areas on Sunday as a cold front moves into eastern Oklahoma. The National Weather Service warns of high winds, hail, and cloud-to-ground lightning throughout the day. With outdoor activities planned, residents are urged to stay weather-aware and prepare for sudden changes. Storms may cause delays along Route 66 and other major highways.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, storms are expected to intensify by Sunday afternoon, potentially impacting traffic along I-44 and Route 51. The cold front will lower temperatures from a high of 90 degrees on Sunday to 73 on Monday.

Forecasters suggest those planning outdoor events to have a lightning safety plan in place. If thunderstorms strike, shelter indoors and avoid traveling unless necessary. Cooler temperatures will bring relief on Monday, with highs in the 70s for much of the week. Prepare for scattered showers early in the week and keep an eye on updated weather alerts.
