OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – A soft orange dawn spreads across the plains this morning, marking the start of another calm, unseasonably warm day in central Oklahoma. After a brisk early start in the 40s, the state heads toward upper 70s by Thursday—pushing near-record warmth for mid-November.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a ridge of high pressure will keep skies mostly clear and dry through Saturday. South winds will strengthen by Thursday afternoon, gusting between 15 and 20 mph. Those breezes will help push afternoon highs into the upper 70s to low 80s, nearly 15 degrees above seasonal norms. While the stretch offers ideal conditions for outdoor work, travel, and early holiday setup, it could also raise fire danger across western counties. The Oklahoma Forestry Services urges residents to avoid outdoor burning and secure lightweight items before winds peak each afternoon.

Friday and Saturday will stay warm, sunny, and breezy, but a subtle shift begins late Saturday night as a weak front approaches from the northwest. By Sunday morning, cooler air filters in with a 20–30% chance of light rain, mainly east of I-35.

The upcoming week may bring a stronger cold push, possibly signaling Oklahoma’s first true “Winter Tease” before Thanksgiving. For now, expect golden fall afternoons, mild nights, and that steady south wind rolling across the prairie—a brief reprieve before late-November chill returns.
