Tulsa, OK – A strong storm system is set to bring ice, snow, and dangerously cold wind chills to eastern Oklahoma starting Sunday night. Residents along the I-44 corridor should prepare for minor accumulations of ice and snow, creating hazardous driving conditions into Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the storm will be followed by a blast of arctic air, pushing wind chill values below freezing through Tuesday. Motorists are urged to monitor weather updates and exercise caution on highways, as conditions could deteriorate rapidly.

The weekend begins with mild weather, with highs reaching the mid-50s on Thursday and Friday. However, by Saturday night, temperatures will drop into the 30s as the storm approaches. Rain and freezing precipitation are expected to develop late Sunday, especially near the Kansas and Missouri borders.

Looking ahead to the first week of January, daytime highs will struggle to exceed 30°F on Monday, with wind gusts up to 25 mph adding to the chill. Travelers should prepare for icy patches and reduced visibility on roads. Residents are encouraged to check local forecasts regularly and stock up on essentials before the storm hits.

The rest of the week will remain cold but dry, with temperatures slowly climbing back into the 40s by midweek. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates from the National Weather Service for any potential changes to the forecast.
