Tulsa, OK – Bitter cold grips northeastern Oklahoma early Friday, but a warming trend is on the way this weekend. Residents should prepare for dangerous wind chills before temperatures rise.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), wind chills will range from 0 to -6°F Friday morning, prompting a Cold Weather Advisory until 9 a.m. However, by Friday afternoon, temperatures will climb above freezing, peaking at 28°F under sunny skies.

The warm-up continues Saturday, reaching a high of 43°F with light southwest winds. By Sunday, Tulsa could see highs near 56°F under sunny skies, offering relief from the deep freeze. Overnight lows will still dip into the teens and 20s, so residents should take precautions.

Early next week, temperatures will soar to 67°F on Monday and 68°F on Tuesday, with mostly clear skies and calm winds. However, another cold front may arrive midweek, bringing potential weather changes.

Drivers should watch for icy spots on bridges and overpasses Friday morning.Those traveling on I-44 and U.S. Highway 75 should allow extra time and bundle up before heading out.
