Norman, OK – A cold front sweeping across Oklahoma this week is bringing the first freeze of the season for many areas, along with a chillier-than-usual Thanksgiving forecast.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman, regions south of Interstate 40 are expected to experience freezing temperatures Tuesday morning, with lows ranging from 28°F to 35°F. Another round of freezing temperatures is anticipated Friday morning, potentially marking one of the latest first freezes on record for some areas.

As the week progresses, the cold front will usher in significantly cooler temperatures ahead of Thanksgiving Day. Predawn lows on Thursday are forecast to range between 25°F and 35°F across much of the state, with afternoon highs struggling to reach the upper 40s to low 50s. The NWS reports precipitation chances remain minimal at less than 20%.

Residents are advised to protect outdoor plants, bring pets indoors, and ensure exposed pipes are insulated ahead of the freeze. Travel conditions are expected to remain favorable throughout the week, with no significant weather disruptions anticipated.
