Texarkana, Arkansas – A tornado watch is now in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday for over 20 counties spanning Oklahoma and Arkansas, as severe storms, including possible tornadoes, move through the region. Residents across these areas are urged to stay alert as dangerous weather conditions are expected to intensify.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 176 covers counties in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. This includes Clark, Miller, and Sevier counties in Arkansas, as well as McCurtain, Le Flore, and Pittsburg counties in Oklahoma. The watch indicates that conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes, large hail, and strong winds.

Cities such as Hope, AR, and Idabel, OK, along with other affected areas, could experience hazardous travel and power outages. Major highways, including Interstate 30 and U.S. 259, may face disruptions due to storm debris and possible flooding. Drivers are urged to avoid non-essential travel and be ready to seek shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued.

Saturday evening’s severe weather outbreak is a significant event, marking the first large-scale tornado threat of the spring season. Local authorities recommend having a weather radio or mobile device charged and ready for real-time alerts.

The tornado watch remains in effect until 10 p.m., and further updates will follow if new warnings or advisories are issued. Stay informed and prepared for rapidly changing conditions tonight.
