Cleveland, OH – Residents across northeast Ohio are bracing for snowy conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. Friday. Accumulations of up to 5 inches could create slick roads and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory impacts counties including Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, and Summit. Snowfall began early Thursday morning and will continue through the evening commute. Additional accumulations between 2 and 5 inches are expected.

Temperatures across the region will hover near freezing, ranging from 28°F to 32°F. Winds at 10 to 15 mph may contribute to reduced visibility in some areas, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Commuters should anticipate delays during peak travel times and are urged to exercise caution.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has deployed plows to clear major roadways, but secondary streets may remain snow-covered through the evening. ODOT and the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission recommend delaying nonessential travel and monitoring conditions at www.ohgo.com.

Local officials emphasize the importance of preparedness during winter storms. Residents are encouraged to keep emergency kits in vehicles, including blankets, flashlights, and water. Homeowners should ensure walkways are cleared and salted to prevent injuries.

The NWS forecasts that snowfall will taper off after midnight, with clearer conditions expected Friday morning. However, residual ice could create lingering challenges for drivers.

This latest winter storm underscores the need for vigilance during Ohio’s unpredictable cold season. Stay informed on changing conditions and prioritize safety in all travel plans.
