Cleveland, OH – A winter weather advisory is in effect for northeastern Ohio as lake effect snow is expected to bring 3 to 5 inches of accumulation by 10 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory includes Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties. Snow will begin around 10 a.m. Sunday and persist into Monday morning. The eastern half of Cuyahoga County is expected to see the highest totals, with amounts tapering to 1 to 3 inches in the western areas.

Hazardous road conditions are likely, especially during the Monday morning commute. Officials are urging drivers to slow down and exercise caution, particularly in areas with persistent snow bands.

The Ohio Department of Transportation advises travelers to monitor roadway conditions via www.ohgo.com and avoid unnecessary trips.

Lake effect snow is common in the region during winter months, but drivers should prepare for slower travel and potential delays. Residents are encouraged to allow extra time for their morning routines and check for updates on local travel restrictions.

The advisory will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Monday.
