Wilmington, Ohio – A January warm-up is underway across Ohio, bringing a stretch of mild, dry weather Monday before clouds increase and a chance for light rain returns Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will climb into the mid 40s to low 50s across much of the state Monday, marking a noticeable shift from recent colder conditions. Cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Wilmington are expected to see afternoon highs several degrees above normal under generally dry conditions.
The warming trend strengthens Tuesday as highs rise a few more degrees, reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s from western and central Ohio into the Scioto Valley. A weak disturbance may bring scattered rain showers Tuesday afternoon and early evening, particularly near and west of I-75. Rainfall amounts are expected to be light, but damp roads could affect the late-day commute.
No winter precipitation is expected, and road conditions should remain mainly favorable aside from brief wet spots. The mild air may also help clear lingering frost from shaded areas earlier than usual for January.
Forecasters say the above-normal pattern holds through midweek before temperatures begin to level off later in the week. Additional rain chances remain possible, and residents are encouraged to monitor updates as the pattern stays active across the Ohio Valley.
