Cleveland, Ohio – April ended wet across much of northeast Ohio, with Akron-Canton and Youngstown recording more than five inches of rain—well above average for the month.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, Akron-Canton logged 5.02 inches of precipitation (+1.16″ above normal), while Youngstown saw 4.98 inches (+1.23″). Cleveland and Mansfield also experienced wetter-than-usual Aprils with totals of 4.72″ and 4.76″, respectively. Erie, Pennsylvania, was the only site in the roundup to report slightly below-normal rainfall at 3.34″.

Temperatures ran slightly warmer than normal across the region. The average high hovered around 60–62°F in most cities, with Akron-Canton reaching a monthly peak of 82°F on April 24. Toledo led the warmth with an 86°F high on April 18.

Snowfall was nearly absent. Several cities, including Akron-Canton and Youngstown, recorded only a trace, falling more than 1.5 inches below average. Cleveland picked up just 0.2″, well under the April norm.

While April brought fewer cold snaps and minimal snow, the early taste of summer heat combined with rain-soaked ground raises concerns about early-season flooding risks in May.
