Columbus, Ohio – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to move across Ohio this weekend, bringing up to half an inch of rain through Monday morning, though no new river flooding is expected.

According to the Ohio River Forecast Center, most areas will see light rainfall—generally 0.5 inches or less—through 8 a.m. Monday. Isolated locations, particularly where thunderstorms are stronger, could receive higher totals. The rain follows a stretch of elevated river levels, but nearly all gauges across the state are now below action stage.

Cities including Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus may experience intermittent showers Saturday and Sunday, with possible localized downpours. However, this weekend’s rainfall is not projected to push any waterways back above flood stage. Recent river forecast points across the Ohio River Basin are trending downward, reflecting improved conditions after earlier summer rainfall.

Drivers should use caution on wet roads, especially in areas prone to poor drainage. Residents near creeks and smaller tributaries should monitor for brief rises during heavy rain but no prolonged flooding is anticipated.

Rain chances taper off by early Monday, and the National Weather Service says no additional flood advisories are planned unless rainfall intensifies unexpectedly
