Columbus, Ohio – Steady rain and scattered thunderstorms will continue to impact central Ohio through Tuesday, bringing the threat of small hail, gusty winds, and localized flooding, particularly in the Columbus, Dayton, and Lima areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, showers and storms are expected to redevelop this afternoon and evening, with the heaviest activity focused on central Ohio. Rainfall totals could exceed 1 to 1.5 inches from west-central counties into the Columbus metro area as the weather system slowly pushes east. The strongest storms may produce pea-sized hail and brief wind gusts.

Cities including Sidney, Bellefontaine, and Marysville could see reduced visibility and ponding on roads during peak commute hours. With cooler-than-average temperatures in the 50s and 60s, the persistent rain will create slick driving conditions throughout the region. Motorists are urged to slow down and watch for hydroplaning, especially on I-70 and U.S. Route 33.

Residents should secure outdoor items, check storm drains, and remain weather-aware, as isolated stronger storms could develop late this afternoon. Power outages aren’t expected to be widespread but could occur near any heavier cells.

Banded rain is expected to linger into Tuesday evening, and additional advisories may be issued if storm strength increases.
