Cleveland, OH – A stretch of unseasonably warm weather is sweeping across northern Ohio today, with temperatures climbing into the mid-80s in several cities, including a high of 84°F reported in Youngstown.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, skies will remain mostly clear throughout Thursday, April 24, with high temperatures ranging from the low 70s near Lake Erie to the low-to-mid 80s inland. The warmest conditions are expected west of I-71, where isolated thunderstorms may develop late this afternoon and evening.
Toledo and Findlay are forecast to reach 81°F and 82°F respectively, while Akron could see a high of 83°F. Cities near Lake Erie, including Cleveland (79°F) and Sandusky (71°F), will stay slightly cooler due to lake breeze development, which typically brings milder conditions to coastal communities.
Residents should remain alert for brief pop-up storms, particularly west of I-71, during the late afternoon and early evening hours. These storms are expected to be very isolated but could produce brief gusty winds and localized rainfall.
Drivers are encouraged to monitor local alerts and avoid outdoor activities during any lightning or sudden downpours. No widespread severe weather is anticipated.
