Columbus, Ohio – A stretch of strong thunderstorms may impact much of Ohio through Friday night, bringing gusty winds and the threat of localized flooding to areas including Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, there is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms on both Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated strong storms could develop, with damaging winds being the primary concern. Additionally, heavy downpours may lead to flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas from Thursday afternoon through late Friday.

Cities such as Lima, Chillicothe, and Springfield are also included in the risk zone. The most active periods are expected during the late afternoon and evening hours. Residents are urged to monitor alerts and avoid flooded roadways. Crews may be dispatched to address downed limbs or localized power outages if winds intensify.

This system marks the start of a more active early summer pattern across the Ohio Valley. Any storm development could vary by location, so staying weather-aware remains key.

Additional advisories may be issued, and updates are expected from the NWS as storm models evolve.
