Wilmington, Ohio – Drivers across southwest Ohio should brace for poor visibility and slick roads Thursday morning as dense fog develops before sunrise.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, patchy dense fog will reduce visibility to under a quarter mile in some areas—especially near low-lying routes like US-68 and I-71. Motorists should use headlights, reduce speed, and allow extra travel time during the Thursday morning commute. Visibility may rapidly change block by block.

Skies will clear slightly later Thursday, with a high near 75°F and just a slight 20% chance of showers. Winds will pick up from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph. By Thursday night, cloud cover returns, bringing a 30% chance of isolated rain after 2 a.m. Friday.

Friday brings the next meaningful weather shift. A chance of thunderstorms begins after 11 a.m., and a high near 67°F will accompany a second round of showers into Friday night. Rainfall could reach up to half an inch with heavier storms.

Extended 5-Day Outlook:

  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 71°F – ideal start to the weekend
  • Sunday: Partly cloudy with a high of 74°F
  • Monday [Summer]: Warmer and dry, high around 78°F
  • Monday Night: Mostly clear, low near 56°F
  • Tuesday: Sunny skies continue with a high near 83°F

No hazardous weather is expected beyond Friday night, but fog advisories could return early next week. Check updates from the NWS for evolving alerts.
