Columbus, OH – Heavy rainfall has triggered road closures in Columbus as city crews activate the Franklinton floodwall and install floodgates on key streets, impacting travel through at least Sunday afternoon.

According to the Columbus Department of Public Service, closures began Saturday, April 5, due to persistent rain and flood risk. Greenlawn Avenue is fully closed between Front Street and Harmon Avenue, with the I-71 ramps to Greenlawn also shut down. Harmon Avenue is closed north of Frank Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area as crews continue flood prevention efforts. These actions are part of Columbus’ established flood protocol designed to protect the Franklinton area during significant rainfall events.

Drivers should seek alternate routes and allow for extra travel time. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office emphasized safety, urging residents to remain alert to updates through the weekend.

As storms persist, residents should monitor weather alerts and check city updates before commuting. Flood barriers are expected to remain in place until water levels recede and streets are deemed safe.

For real-time updates, follow the Columbus Department of Public Service and Franklin County emergency services.
