Wilmington, OH – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Ohio Valley, with a powerful system expected to bring heavy snow and ice from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. Significant snowfall of 5–10 inches is forecast, with icy conditions south of the Ohio River.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, light snow will begin Sunday afternoon before intensifying overnight. Areas south of the Ohio River, including northern Kentucky, may experience dangerous ice accumulations, increasing the likelihood of travel disruptions. Roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to become treacherous, with blowing snow and freezing rain reducing visibility.

Residents across the Ohio Valley should prepare now. Stock up on essential supplies, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor updates on weather conditions. Travelers along major routes, including I-71 and I-75, are urged to check real-time conditions and exercise caution.

Five-Day Outlook for the Ohio Valley:

Friday: Breezy with light snow ending by afternoon. High near 31°F, low around 16°F. Slick roads possible.

Saturday: Sunny and cold. High of 24°F with lows near 15°F as clouds increase overnight.

Sunday: Light snow in the afternoon, becoming heavy overnight. High near 26°F, low around 21°F. Ice accumulations possible south of the river.

Monday: Snow and ice in the morning tapering off by afternoon. Total snow accumulation of 5–10 inches. High of 28°F.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a high near 24°F. Icy patches may linger on untreated surfaces.

Drivers are encouraged to plan for delays and check 511.org for road updates. Be prepared for rapidly changing conditions and potential power outages due to ice.
