Wilmington, Ohio – Storms are set to return to the Ohio Valley Thursday afternoon, with Wilmington and surrounding counties bracing for heavy rain and localized flooding during the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, strong thunderstorms are expected to begin after 2 p.m. Thursday, with the most intense rainfall likely between 8 and 11 p.m. Areas along the US-68 corridor and Ohio Valley lowlands—including Clinton, Brown, and Highland counties—could see more than an inch of rain in just a few hours. Flooding of roadways, especially in rural or poorly drained areas, is possible.
Thunderstorm activity continues Friday with a renewed risk of downpours and lightning by midday. Gusty winds may also develop, particularly around midday storms on Friday. Motorists should remain alert and avoid flooded roads. Keep mobile devices charged and weather alerts enabled in case warnings are issued.
Though storm chances ease into the weekend, lingering showers and isolated cells are still possible Saturday afternoon. Sunday looks drier but stays cloudy, with additional showers returning by Monday.
