Dayton, OH – Drivers across the Ohio Valley region should prepare for slippery roads and biting cold conditions Thursday morning as lingering ice and snow create hazardous travel spots.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, untreated surfaces could remain icy during the morning commute. Wind chill values are expected to range between -5 and 5 degrees, with blustery winds compounding the cold.
Later in the day, an upper-level disturbance is forecast to bring light snowfall, particularly along and north of I-70, with accumulations of up to one inch possible. The heaviest snow is likely to occur between Kokomo and Muncie, Indiana, potentially impacting the evening rush hour.
Meanwhile, areas further east, including parts of western Pennsylvania, may experience isolated snow squalls overnight into Thursday morning, reducing visibility and leading to slick surfaces. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph could also exacerbate travel conditions.
Residents are advised to use caution on the roads and monitor updates from local weather services for evolving conditions.
